Call-up Process Following Each Week’s Games

1. BYE Team Manager Notification

The BYE team manager notifies managers of the players available for call-up the following week.

2. Managers Meet After Games

All league managers meet following the games and select call-up players in reverse order of league standings by percentage. Ties are broken by agreeable means.

3. Selected Players Belong to That Team

Each player selected in the call-up meeting may only play for the team selecting him or her. Playing for any other team is grounds for a protest and possible game forfeiture.

4. Additional Call-ups After the Meeting

Following the call-up meeting, managers may add additional call-up players as needed.

Goals of the Call-up Process

Fair Selection Order

Each team should have the opportunity to pick a call-up player in the appropriate order as quickly as possible.

Full Manager Awareness

Each manager should be aware of the call-up players selected by other teams.

Rain Out Procedure

Recommended Process When Rain Outs Prevent a Call-up Meeting

If rain outs prevent a normal call-up meeting, managers should use the following recommended process to complete call-ups quickly and fairly.

1. Coordinator Starts the Round

The League Coordinator, or the manager with the first pick if there is no Coordinator, will coordinate this round of call-ups until all teams have made their first selection.

2. First Pick Emails the Next Manager

After making one selection, the coordinator manager emails the #2 call-up manager and copies all other league managers. Phone calls or texts may also be appropriate at times.

3. Continue in Order

The #2 call-up manager makes one selection and emails the #3 call-up manager, copying all managers. This continues in order.

4. Use Reply All

Managers should continue the process using “Reply All” so the email string contains all of the information needed by each team. This may take multiple rounds. If using SMS, use the same group text being used by the manager.

5. Final Manager Confirms Completion

Once the final call-up need is filled, the last manager selecting should “Reply All” that the call-up process is completed.

6. Additional Call-ups After Completion

After the call-up process is completed, additional call-up players may be added if needed.

Manager Reminders

This Is a Recommended Process

The rain-out call-up process is not a rigid set of rules to be followed exactly. Additional factors may be involved and may require alternate steps to accomplish the goals of fairness, speed, and clear communication.

Cooperation Is Key

Cooperation and understanding between league managers is needed to complete the call-up process quickly and fairly. Each manager should note “completed” when finished with his call-ups.
