SSSA BOARD MEETING MINUTES SEPTEMBER 4, 2019

Present: Jack Zimmerman, Chuck Cason, Joe Warren, Dave Wulfsohn, George Wacaser, Dan Martin, Ken Shepard.  Absent: Frank Lyons, Ron Grande. Guest: George Hawley.

The meeting was called to order at 1pm. The minutes of the August board meeting were unanimously approved contingent upon a change concerning the number of Friday Gold league 2 teams (there will be 7, not 5.) Not much financial activity has taken place since the August board meeting.

Old business:

      1. Guest speaker George Hawley gave a quick presentation on our new website (HomeTeamsOnline.com.) We are still transitioning from our previous website.
      2. We have about 25 sponsors ready for this upcoming season. It appears we'll have 34 teams so we need several more sponsors. Board members agreed to follow up with sponsors that have not renewed or responded to our letters.
      3. George Wacaser gave us the most recent figures for players; 269 have registered & 116 are still unregistered. For the winter season, recruitment of managers for the Gold leagues is going good. Both Silver leagues still need numerous managers.
      4. The annual luncheon is still set for March 18, 2020.
      5. The combine is set for 8:30am, Tuesday October 8. The drafts are set for October 15,16,17 at the north library on MLK Blvd.
      6. Games will start at 9am for the 2019-2020 season.

New business:

      1. We will again ask managers to rate all players in their respective leagues. Then separate 3 person committees for the Gold and Silver leagues will review and resolve any discrepancies.
      2. Jack has asked Sands Robnick to be in charge of rainman duties. Sands will recruit players to be the rainman for the various playing days this winter season. There will also be a hotline number players can call to find out if the games have been cancelled.
      3. We discussed how players that will serve as managers can be fairly slotted in the draft. One key is having all necessary managers recruited well before the draft takes place.
      4. Our next meeting is 1pm, Wednesday October 9 at the north library on MLK Blvd.

Today's meeting was adjourned at 3:20pm.

Respectfully,

Ken Shepard, Secretary
