October Minutes

Call to Order 9:22 am

 

Present:

George Wacaser, Mike Cox, Gary Goldberg, Mark McCool, Marc

Galloway, Tod Schwartz, Scott Kurkjian, Carl Pallas, Warren Hickernell

 

Approve Minutes:

A change in minutes relating to Leagues A & B; it is up to the

batter/runner to ask for a substitute runner; September minutes were then

approved.

 

Financial Report:

It was reported that the league is in a strong financial status,

sponsorship is up. The report was approved.

 

Coordinator Updates:

A Wed – Mike – no issues

B Mon – George – no issues

C Thurs – Marc – no issues

 

Member Reports:

Marc Galloway – Annual Amish Games will be held on 2/25/26;

Four(4) games of 7 innings each lasting about 1.5 hours/game; 1st game

at 9:00 am. This would include a “C” Team participation.

Pizza Day sponsored by Mark Jacobs.

On 3/22/26 will be Managers Appreciation Lunch.

 

Mike Cox – we are losing some prior players but signing up new

players.

 

Carl Pallas – we have four(4) First Aid Kits at the fields.

 

Scott Kurkjian – let him know if extra shirts are needed.

 

Team Sponsors:

Scott Kurkjian – sponsorship is filled for the upcoming season; it

was noted that the sponsors should be more actively promoted, especially

online.

 

Old Business:

No old business discussed.

 

Umpire Clinic/Combine Oct 3rd:

Todd Schwartz – combine went well and the umpire clinic was well

done. There was strong attendance.

 

Draft/Manager Updates:

The Manager list distributed.

The draft sequence distributed to coordinators.

There was a discussion of player shortage in “B” League. Monday B- 55

players and Friday B- 55 players.

 

A proposal was made to change the draft order by drawing cards for

leagues A & B; the motion passed. The board finalized draft order by an

immediate random card drawing.

 

New Business:

Motion made for A & B leagues- 1st screen hit is a courtesy, after

this then a strike. Vote taken but did not pass.Same motion made to include all leagues (A, B & C). Vote taken but

did not pass.

 

Tod Schwartz-reminder for coordinators to verify pick-up player list

is accurate and sent out within 24 hours.

 

George Wacaser-searching for board meeting place, meanwhile 17th

Street office available. Agreed that preference should be made to meet at

a sponsor location.

 

Batting practice this month at Fruitville fields. All 17th Street fields closed

between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Games are moved to the following

fields: “A” league @ Bee Ridge on Monday; “C” league @ Bee Ridge or

Fruitville; Wednesday games at Fruitville. Total list of locations for each

day to follow.

 

Next Board Meeting Location:

To be held at 17th Street field office unless notified of change.
