SSSA BOARD MEETING MINUTES NOVEMBER 13, 2019

Present: Jack Zimmerman, Frank Lyons, Dan Martin, Dave Wulfsohn, Chuck Cason, Ron Grande, Joe Warren, George Wacaser, Ken Shepard. Absent: No one.

The meeting was called to order at 1:18pm by Jack. Minutes of the October 9 meeting and the financial report were unanimously approved. We called Bank of America and found out how to get online payments transferred into our bank account. Pay Pal takes about 3% of each transaction. About 160 of the 280 roster players have paid their dues. The board agreed to reimburse Bob Lucarelli for his cost in purchasing uniforms for his Monday team as the purple shirts/hats from Ball and Shoe were the wrong color.

OLD BUSINESS

1. We have miscellaneous shirts/hats + 1 full set of uniforms for a sponsor (Sarasota Opthalmology) which did not renew in the old shed.
2. We discussed the new website, which for the most part is running smoothly. The online payments are making it easier to track player dues.
3. We need a roster manager to help George with the massive task.
4. We still need a rainman for Thursday. No manager or player has stepped up to help.
5. Coordinators are also still needed for the Monday Gold 2, Tuesday Silver, and Thursday Silver Leagues.
6. The 2019-2020 winter league drafts for the most part went smoothly. We'll continue to draft teams for the 2020 summer leagues and not assign teams.

                                           NEW BUSINESS

1. We discussed whether the $150 sponsor fee and $75 player fee should be increased. The consensus is yes but nothing decided other to again discuss next month.
2. We reviewed the veer rule. George will attempt to clarify that rule and "illegal" pitches that are not timely called by the umpire.
3. On Saturday, November 23 from 10am-2pm at Robarts Arena there is an expo. The board approved spending $329 for a booth rental. We have folks to man the booth.
4. In December any games scheduled for Fruitville Park will be moved to Bee Ridge Park. There will not be any games on January 2, 3 & 6. All fields are closed.
5. We'll likely rename our leagues to Gold, Silver and Bronze next year.
6. There will be 4 open slots on the board next year. Anyone interested in running must submit their name in writing to Jack by the second Monday in February.
7. Next month's meeting will be December 11 at the Fruitville Library. Today's meeting was adjourned at 3:30pm.

Respectfully,

Ken Shepard, Secretary
