SSSA BOARD MEETING MINUTES JANUARY 9, 2019

Present: Chuck Cason, Dan Martin, Bill Smith, Ron Grande, Dave Wulfsohn, Joe Warren, George Wacaser, Jack Zimmerman, Ken Shepard.  Absent: No one.
President Chuck Cason called the meeting to order at 1pm. The minutes of the December 12, 2018 board meeting were approved 9-0. Dan continues to collect yearly dues from players. No major expenses are expected anytime soon. The financial report was approved unanimously.                        

                                                      OLD BUSINESS
Bill confirmed the hot dog days are Tuesday, February 5 & Friday, February 8.  
The board voted 9-0 to have Jack proceed with the “baseball cards” as a way to market and promote our league. Jack will get with Pete Miller and have 200 cards printed at a cost of about $.16 per card.
George led a discussion on the 2019-2020 registration form, which was approved after some minor revisions. We’ll have Gold and Silver leagues on Monday and Friday, and Bronze leagues on Tuesday and Thursday. There will be 30-38 teams depending on how many players register.
Joe confirmed the banquet will be Wednesday, March 27. The cost will be $17 per ticket and all board members will be given tickets to sell.
                                                      NEW BUSINESS
       1.  A motion was made, seconded and approved 7-2 to approve a change to rule 6. Pitching Screen. The addition is “The Board may suspend the pitching privilege for any pitcher not getting behind the screen for his safety.”
        2. There will be 5 openings for the board in next month’s election. Anyone wishing to run must notify Chuck by February 11 (deadline is the second Monday in February.)
        3. We discussed rule 4. Player Participation in Games. No changes made. 
        4. The fields will be closed for a few days the second week of April. We intend on starting summer play Wednesday, April 3.
        5. The long term future of the 17th St complex is uncertain, as there will no longer be any night leagues.
        6. The prospective date for this year’s combine is Tuesday, October 8 with the drafts on October 15 and 17. 

Next month’s meeting is 1pm, Wednesday, February 13 at the Fruitville Library. Today’s meeting adjourned at 3:23pm.
