SSSA BOARD MEETING MINUTES JANUARY 8, 2020

Present: Board Members Jack Zimmerman, Dan Martin, Joe Warren, Ron Grande, Frank Lyons, Chuck Cason, Dave Wulfsohn, George Wacaser, Ken Shepard. Guests: Rich Cobin, Jerry Vaccarro.

1. Jack called the meeting to order at 1pm.

2. Minutes of the December, 2019 meeting were approved.

3. The financial report was approved. About 235 players have now paid.

4. We reviewed the playing dates and conditions of the fields. Ron will contact the county to make sure the fields at Fruitville Park are ready to be used.

Old Business:

1. George & Ken are handling roster management duties at this time, but both again requested all board members assist in this task.

2. On December 12 an inventory was taken of shirts/hats in the old shed. We have 10 full sets of uniforms, several from sponsors we no longer use. We'll either use these uniforms to equip summer teams or use them next winter.

3.Jeff Meyers agreed to be the Tuesday league coordinator. Klavs Landberg is now the Thursday league coordinator and rainman. Frank Lyons volunteered to be the Monday Gold 2 league coordinator. All leagues now have coordinators and all playing days now have a rainman.

4. We discussed renaming the leagues but no action taken today.

5. Ken Shepard & Jerry Vaccarro have submitted their names to run for the board this year. There will be 4 spots up for election.

New Business:

1. In the Friday Gold 1 league a protest was filed against Team 2 for using an illegible player on December 13. The protest was upheld and Team 3 declared the winner of both games.

2. The annual luncheon is set for March 18. The cost will be $17.99 per person.

3. The draft for the summer leagues will be Thursday, April 2 at the north library on 27th Street. Playing days will again be Wednesday and Thursday. Play starts April 8.

4. We will not adjust the schedules at this time. Games which were cancelled because of field closures on January 2, 3 & 6 will simply be considered as rainouts.

5. We briefly discussed boad member responsibilities and obligations.

6. Rich Cobin voiced his displeasure with the quality of umpiring in Tuesday leagues. This mainly seems to be a problem in the silver leagues. Tim Manning has become a problem with his on field argumentative behavoir. Frank Lyons will talk to Tim before the board takes further disciplinary action.

7. The February meeting will be at the Fruitville Library.

Today's meeting was adjourned at 3:30pm.

Respectfully,

Ken Shepard, Secretary
