SSSA BOARD MEETING MINUTES JANUARY 29, 2020

PRESENT: JACK ZIMMERMAN, FRANK LYONS, DAVE WULFSOHN, CHUCK CASON, RON GRANDE, GEORGE WACASER, KEN SHEPARD. ABSENT: DAN MARTIN, JOE WARREN.

1. Jack began by highlighting some items from Roberts Rules of Order, then called the meeting to order at 1:10pm.

2. Minutes of the January board meeting were approved.

3. Dan was not here to give us an official financial report.

4. Ron said everything is fine with the fields as far as dealing with the county.

5. Jack led a discussion on our budget. Some expenses are running above projections. Dave will head a committee to decide shirt colors for the winter championship teams.

OLD BUSINESS:

1. Tom Dwyer has quit Team 1 in the Thursday Silver League and thus has been placed on a 1 year probation. Lou Guisto wants to quit his Friday Gold 2 team. Jack will inform Lou if he quits that team he must quit all teams and will be suspended from league play for 1 year. The 2019 winning summer Silver League team still owes the league $60 for changes they requested to their championship shirts. Ken will speak to Tim Manning about the money.

2. The annual luncheon is March 18. We approved printing 100 tickets. Chuck is still trying to nail down a speaker.

3. Ken Shepard, Jerry Vaccaro, Bob D'Angelo & Ron Giovannucci have submitted their written intentions to Jack to run for the board. Others have expressed an interest. Joe Warren typically heads the election process. We need 3 non board member players to count the ballots.

4. Next month we'll again discuss increasing player fees and sponsor fees when hopefully all board members are present. Frank will head a sponsor committee.

5. We briefly discussed limitations on board of director members as well as our responsibilities. We'll do our best to adhere to our bylaws.

NEW BUSINESS

1. For the summer league we'll try and get volunteer umpires for the silver league. If that's not possible, we'll look at providing 1 paid umpire per game for the silver league. Gold Leagues seem to do a better job of umpiring their own games.

2. No changes on the board's position concerning all star games, as we don't want to officially sanction such events.

3. One framed team picture will be provided to each sponsor. We'll post team pictures on our website so any player can download a copy as he/she wants. Hugo Parrillo is again taking the pictures.

4. Ron Grande will head a committee to insure roster management is done properly and that all rosters are current.

5. We discovered rule 3.s. somehow was not transferred to the new website. It concerns interference at 1st base between the fielder and baserunner. George will post the rule to our new website.

The next board meeting is 1pm Wednesday, February 12 at the Fruitville Library.

Today's meeting was adjourned at 3:15pm.

Respectfully,

Ken Shepard, Secretary
