Present: Jack Zimmerman, Dan Martin, Ron Grande, Dave Wulfsohn, Chuck Cason, Joe Warren, Ken Shepard. Absent: George Wacaser, Frank Lyons.
Jack called the meeting to order at 1pm. Minutes of the November 13 board meeting and financial report were unanimously approved. Dan said about 215 players have paid the $75 dues. Unpaid players are mostly snowbirds and silver league players. Our bank balance has increased because of the dues money.
OLD BUSINESS
1. We have 1 full set of shirts/hats in the old shed for a sponsor which only recently paid along with other miscellaneous shirts/hats. Dan also has 2 bags of uniforms. Dan, Jack and Dave will conduct an inventory Thursday, December 12.
2. We discussed whether to increase sponsor fees and player dues. Most board members seem inclined to do so, but we'll make a decision when all members are present.
3. Ken explained the additional language for the veer rule and 6'-12' arc rule. Ken and George had worked together to slightly revise the wording for both rules.
4. There is still no Thursday rainman. Jack will ask Klavs Landberg to do it.
5. We still need league coordinators for Monday Gold 2 + both Tuesday and Thursday Silver leagues. Ken was at the callup meeting on Tuesday, December 10 and showed the managers how to do it. Ken will ask Jeff Meyers to be the Tuesday coordinator. Jack will work on getting a Thursday coordinator.
6. We reviewed the November 23 Senior Expo. While well attended, no one joined our league at that time, but hopefully we'll get some new players.
7. There will be 4 open slots on the board next year. Anyone interested in running needs to notify Jack in writing by the 2nd Monday in February. Ken will send a note that Gary Olson can post on our website. Ken will also post a note on our Facebook page.
NEW BUSINESS
1. Call up process. There are problems with some managers taking shortcuts in certain leagues, basically leagues without a coordinator. In such cases the rain out process should be followed.
2. During the meeting Ron called Shelby at Sarasota County to confirm we do have fields reserved thru Friday, December 20. We are having issues with fields being prepared properly and Ron has also contacted Shelby about that.
3. We discussed renaming the leagues to Gold, Silver and Bronze. Another item we tabled until all board members are present. Ken will check availability in early April for the 2020 summer drafts.
4. The next meeting will be 1pm Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at the north library on 27th St. Today's meeting was adjourned at 3pm.
Respectfully,
Ken Shepard
