President Ken Shepard called the meeting to order and confirmed a quorum of Vice-President Frank Lyons, Treasurer Mike Mahan, George Wacaser, Bob D’Angelo, Chuck Cason, Luis Negrete, Gary Goldberg, and Secretary Ron Giovannucci (via phone).
The meeting started at 12:10pm and concluded at 2:25pm. The meeting was held at the Fruitville Library conference room.
The Minutes from the July 13, 2022 and July 27, 2022 meetings were approved.
Treasurer Mike Mahan presented his report and it was approved. There is a positive balance in the Association’s account.
The Winter league fees were set at $60 for playing in one league and $40 for each additional league. No player rated 1 – 2 will play in the “B” leagues (3 rated players can play in the B league). No player rated 1 – 4 will play in the “C” leagues. The Board voted that Friday “B” league will play one game at the 17th Street Park and two games at the Fruitville Park. Players who have paid and not drafted in their desired league(s) will receive a refund. There are three methods of paying; PayPal, credit card, and sending a check to the address listed on the registration form. Players who start playing in the first half of the season shall pay the full fee rate. An email to the membership will be sent out in January with the 2023-24 Winter leagues objectives.

A request to place a storage box at Fruitville Park is awaiting County approval. The storage box will eliminate transporting screens, extended home and safety plates from the 17th Street Park.
Three of 5 Defibrillator Batteries were down and will be replaced by Ken.
Four screens are in the shed and two are being repaired and will be ready by the end of August. If necessary, a loaner screen will be added to the inventory. Mike still has five dozen “Tattoo” balls on hand and he passed out one dozen to “C” league managers. There are 36 dozen balls enroute. One game ball will be used for the remainder of the summer season. Four new extended home plates will be added to the inventory for the Winter season.
There was nothing to report from the League Coordinators.
George Wacaser made changes to the Rule on tie games. Fees should be paid by the 3rd playing date.
The experimental rule on “Older and lower rated players not being thrown out” was tabled. Two affected players do not like the rule.
Ken Shepard will follow-up with four new Sponsors. Doug Smith will sponsor a team. Sarasota Ford and Ryder Bikes are already on board as sponsors for the Winter season. New sponsors pay $300 and returning sponsors pay $250.
