SSSA BOARD MEETING MINUTES APRIL 14, 2021

Attendees-   ken Shepard , Frank Lyons, Bob D'Angelo,  George Wacaser, Jack Zimmerman, Ron Grande,  Chuck Cason, Luis Negrete, Ron Giovanucci   [ remote ]

 

  1. Call to order- 1:02 PM 

  2. Review/Approve Minutes  from March  10, 2021 meeting- Approved

  3. Review/Approve Financial Report- All fields have been paid up to June 4. That is one half of total payment due. Board approved payment of all plaques. The new treasurer will have our Bank change records and issue checks in his name. 

  4. Elections- Ken Shepard and Jack Zimmerman were nominated for President. Jack declined nomination, Ken was elected President for another year.  Frank Lyons and Bob D'Angelo were nominated as VP and  Secretary, respectively, without opposition, and will remain in those positions. Jack Zimmermann was nominated, without opposition, and elected  Treasurer.

 

Old Business

 

  1. All Thursday summer manager positions filled. 

  2.  MONDAY Gold 2, will relocate to Richardson Fields

  3. Vote on using funds for marketing of SSSA was approved. Jack Zimmerman will target Lakewood Ranch for first test area.

  4. An award[s] for outstanding contributions to SSSA was discussed . It was agreed that the committee in place, will choose a name for the award, and it will go to former participant players and be based on current players nominations

  5. Agreed to have shirts made for the celebration of the 25th. Anniversary of SSSA league.

  6. Summer batting practices will be on Tuesday and Friday. 

  7. The Board recognized Dave Wulfsohn as the recipient of the Fred Frank Award. 

 

New Business

  1. New rainout system initial usage.

  2. Roster issues for Thursday Silver. Formal approval for league to be reduced to 4 teams with 14 players on each team.

  3. Softballs for summer league. Will need to reorder in August.

  4. Set pricing for new generic SSSA shirts

  5. Field improvements for 17th St. and Richardson fields. Work expected to start November 1.

  6. Update on marketing SSSA softball at Lakewood Ranch.  



Next Board Meeting will be at 12:00 PM at 17th St. Fields.
