SSSA BOARD MEETING MINUTES OCTOBER 9, 2019

Present: Jack Zimmerman, Dave Wulfsohn, George Wacaser, Frank Lyons, Chuck Cason, Ron Grande, Joe Warren, Dan Martin, Ken Shepard. Absent: No one.

President Jack Zimmerman called the meeting to order at 1pm. Minutes of the September board meeting were unanimously approved as was the financial report.

                                             OLD BUSINESS
1. Jack and Frank said 34 sponsors have now paid. That's the number of teams we expect for the 2019-2020 winter season so we should be set.
2. The new website is up and running. The big remaining hurdle involves having credit card payments accepted.
3. George updated us with the latest number of registered players. We'll have 5 teams in each of the Monday Gold 1 & Gold 2 Leagues, 7 teams in Tuesday Silver, 5 teams in Thursday Silver, 5 teams in Friday Gold 1, & 7 teams in Friday Gold 2.
4. We need 1 more set of managers for Friday Gold 2 and several more managers for both the Tuesday & Thursday Silver leagues.
5. Ken said all Gold & Silver league summer managers were asked to rerate all the players in their league. Then separate 3 men committees were tasked with coming to a final conclusion on any players where the managers disagreed. George was given the final product.
6. The draft sequence for next week will be: Monday Gold 1, Friday Gold 1, Monday Gold 2, Friday Gold 2, Tuesday Silver, Thursday Silver.
7. All 2019-2020 managers were asked to slot managers in their respective leagues & give their recommendations to George.

                                            NEW BUSINESS
1. We had a discussion on what direction the annual luncheon should take, as all of us want to improve attendance.
2. Dan updated us on the October 8 combine (19 players attended so we had a good turnout.) All board members were at the combine.
3. For personal reasons Sands Robnick resigned as the lead rainman.
4. The board may end up drafting a few Silver league teams for lack of managers at this time.
5. We discussed whether to use the "stay dry" materials for shirts. It's too late for this season as several team shirts have already been ordered. The cost is slightly higher than the cotton shirts we currently buy.
6. Ron will make calls as needed to get the missing pitching screens back to the shed at 17th St.
7. Start times for games this season will be 9am. No inning may start after 12:30pm.
8. Chuck will order 30 dozen new balls. We still have at least 4 dozen new balls.
9. Next month's meeting will be at the Fruitville library.
10. Today's very productive meeting was adjourned at 3:10pm.

Respectfully,

Ken Shepard, Secretary
