1.) Call to order- 12:27PM

 

2.) Meeting minutes from February 9, 2022  voted on and approved

 

3.) Financial report- All outstanding bills have been paid. The March bill for fields is forthcoming. Report was voted on and approved,

 

Old Business

 

1.) Clarification on rule regarding a player carrying a bat to first base. It was decided that since we follow SSUSA rules, when in doubt, this is not a violation.

 

2.) Discussed one hat for all teams. The cost savings will be investigated and reported on.

 

3.) Tuesday Silver voted to have tournament games on March 21. Team 1 vs.4, Team 2 vs.3

    March 28 will be a playoff game for Gold 2 if a winner has not been decided.

 

4.)  A motion was made for volunteer umpires to have full authority during games. Motion passed.

 

5.) Summer league – Project that there will 3 leagues with 5 teams in each league. Start date is April 18 with the first 4 weeks of August off.  Holidays will be on the schedules with Managers deciding if teams will play.

 

6.) The Summer league drafts will be held at the North Sarasota Library, located at 2801 Newtown Blvd.

 Draft dates are 4/4 at 10:00. Monday A Draft– Will play games On Wednesday’s at 17th St. 

On Tuesday 4/5, 10:00AM B league will draft. Games will be on Monday’s at Richardson. 

On Tuesday 4/5 at 11:30 AM  C league will draft. Games will be on Thursday’s at Richardson.

 

  7.) Voted and agreed that all C League teams will have one higher  rated player (9 0r above). No 4 rated players will be eligible to play in Summer C league. 

 

8.) Review of Amish games- Agreed the games were a success. Plan to have food trucks next year and will discuss that a percentage of the proceeds be given to a local charity. Next year there could possibly be three teams playing as the Ohio and Pennsylvania teams would like to add a team from Indiana.

Agreed that the SSSA players will be rotated from year to year so more players get the opportunity to participate.

 

9.) There are now only seven  25th anniversary shirts remaining for sale.

 

10.) The protest from the Thursday Silver dispute ( Teams 4-1)was withdrawn by Team 1.

 

11.) Jack Zimmerman has resigned from the SSSA board effective March 9th. A replacement will be selected.

New Business

 

1.) SoCo request to use our shed and screens. Vote was taken, and the

 request was  denied.

 

 2.)  Winter league division winner shirts are to be ordered. It was agreed that three different colors will be ordered

 

3.) Suggestions submitted by players will be discussed during monthly meetings.

 

4.) Agreed that the incident of the player leaving a team during the season will be decided after clarification of the reason. KS will handle this.

 

5.) Ratings of all players must be submitted to League coordinators prior to next meeting for approval.
