The meeting was called to order at 10am. Present - Ken Shepard, Gary Goldberg, Frank Lyons, Mike Cox, Mike Mahan, Chuck Cason, George Wacaser, Bob D'Angelo. Absent - Mike Tizzani.
Officer elections: Gary Goldberg was elected President on a white ballot. Motions were made, seconded and passed unamimously to elect Frank Lyons as Vice-President, Mike Mahan as Treasurer, and Mike Tizzani as Secretary. We discussed job duties for all board members and will finalize the breakdown at our next meeting.
Mike Mahan presented the financial report. We anticipate having about $5000 in our bank account at the end of the summer season. There are 8 summer league players who have not paid. The financial report was approved.
Minutes of the March 8 board meeting were approved and will be posted to our website.
Mike Mahan passed out new game balls to the league coordinators who'll give them to the respective A, B and C League managers. We'll continue to use 1 new ball per day and should have about 10 dozen new balls left at the end of the summer season.
Chuck Cason, Mike Cox and Ken Shepard will review our bylaws and recommend any changes, especially as it relates to our yearly voting process.
A total of 66 players had their rating changed. We discussed whether ratings should be from 1 - 10, instead of the current system of 1 - 12.
For the summer season 51 players signed up for the Wednesday A League, 67 for the Monday B League, and 47 for the Thursday C League. For the A League managers can pick up 3 rated players for their 11th & 12th players as needed. For this summer Mike Mahan is the A League coordinator, Bob is the B coordinator, and Chuck is the C coordinator.
We need to decide what days the A/B/C leagues should play next winter season. That affects what day the annual Amish game should be held. For the SSSA teams we again decided players should be rotated year to year so more players have the opportunity to participate.
Positive feedback was received from folks attending the April 2 Manager Appreciation dinner, but some managers were unable to attend because of having already left town to head back north. The cost was considerably less than last year's 25th Anniversary Dinner.
Championship shirts were given to all 6 league winning teams. The cost of the shirts was $1084.
Fields have been reserved and paid for thru April.
The veer rule was again discussed. A motion was made, seconded and passed to change the rule as rewritten by George.
The next meeting will be 1pm Wednesday, May 11 at the Shriner's Hall.
Today's meeting was adjourned at 12:05pm.
Respectively,
Ken Shepard
