SSSA BOARD MEETING MINUTES JULY 10, 2019

Present: Jack Zimmerman, Frank Lyons, Dave Wulfsohn, Chuck Cason, Joe Warren, George Wacaser, Dan Martin, Ron Grande, Ken Shepard.  Absent: No one.
President Jack Zimmerman called the meeting to order at 1:08pm. Minutes of the June 12, 2019 board meeting were unanimously approved as was the financial report.

                                                      OLD BUSINESS
Jack and Frank said about 20 sponsors have paid. Any sponsors that haven’t paid within about 2 weeks will be sent a second letter.
The proposed budget for the time frame of 09/01/19 – 08/31/20 was unanimously approved. We project both income and expenses to be about $32,000.
Frank said the new website is up and running on a 30 day trial basis. Frank, George Wacaser, George Hawley and Gary Olson will experiment to see if it’s easy to use and serves our needs. The website will cost about $370 a year. Frank had prepared a 1 page flyer that could be distributed. We’ll wait and make sure the new website can handle our registration needs before the flyer is used.
The annual luncheon is March 18, 2020. Using the hotel behind Der Dutchman for a buffet meal doesn’t seem cost effective. We’ll stick with the restaurant.
The winter draft days at the north library are set for October 15, 16 and 17 (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday.) All drafts start at 10am.

All winter leagues will be given the opportunity to have playoffs the week of March  16, 2020. The top four teams from each league will compete (#1 place team plays #4, #2 plays #3 with the winners of those games playing each other.) The losing teams can play a consolation game. Subs will be selected by the teams in the same manner as the regular season.
                                                      NEW BUSINESS
        1. We are moving the gold leagues back to Monday (moving to Wednesdays for the summer was an experiment.)
        2. There was a short survey from the county which George completed.
        3. George led discussions on how many players have registered for the coming year, how many more we anticipate registering, how many teams we will likely have, and players that might agree to manage a team for the winter season.
        4. We discussed whether the age requirement should be lowered to 50. Not now.
Next month’s meeting is 1pm, Wednesday, August 7 (moved up from August 14) at the MLK Library. Today’s very productive meeting adjourned at 3:15pm.

Respectfully,

Ken Shepard, Secretary
